Tools in Motion: Works from The Hechinger Collection

Tools in Motion celebrates the repetition and motion found in everyday tools such as hammers, saws and wrenches. This wide array of Bright colors and vivid textures make this collection enjoyable for visitors of all ages.

The artists in the exhibition range from emerging to world renowned. They include Arman, Jim Dine, Claes Oldenburg and Jacob Lawrence.

ART ACTIVITY DAYS

Ages 4 and up – Each month, explore a variety of art processes with make-and-take art activities.
Saturdays, 11am-2 pm; $5 suggested donation per family.

Fundamentals of Art: Painting                               August 7

Explore the basics of painting. Join us for one of two 30-minute guided painting lessons at 11:30 am and 1:00 pm, experiment with different types of paint, or paint a landscape using Lake Winnebago as inspiration.

Fundamentals of Art: Sculpture                  September 11

Explore the basics of sculpture and create your own. A variety of materials will be provided.

Celebrate Glass—German Style      October 9

Join us in opening our exhibition, Germanic Glass: from the Hapsburgs to the Czech Republic with Germanic-themed art activities and learn about European glass made in the 1500’s-1800’s.

Celebrate Fall Nov. 13

We will create artwork with a variety of art materials with Fall harvest as our theme for the day.

Holidays around the World: Family Art Day     December 4

With our Germanic glass collection on exhibition and Germanic traditions as a focus, join us in celebrating a Holiday around the World with ornament decorating, holiday card-making, a scavenger hunt through the museum and more.

Art Classes for Kids

10:30-Noon

$15/one class or $40/for three classes        maximum 15 students per class

August 3  • Tool Animals Age 8-10
We will draw and make animals out of a variety of hardware, nuts, bolts and screws.

August 5 •  Nails and String Age 8-10
We will use nails, string and rubberbands to create an abstract sculpture.

August 10  •  Metal Tooling
Age 8-10
Using the aluminum sheet (I saw down stairs) and incorporate tool designs and rub the ink and frame
